I had a great road trip yesterday,. I had to go to an appointment in Peteborough, Wee-Man was with Madame so he was taken care of, i took Chez along for the ride with me. we were on the road fairly early but every station I turned it to had songs that kept us going, man it was great. It took me back to the summer before the last year of high School. I didn't have my license at the time but i had a driver, B.C would come by the farm after chores and we would be on an adventure till I had to be back again, now his Gram ma, (I call her that too.) had gone back to Scotland, he had her car for the summer to get from point A to B. Which was to be get to work and back. We ended up putting 20,000 Km's on that car in the Month she was gone. taking us everywhere Point B was that Day.
Thinking about it now all the gas we put in that car, we might be one of the reasons that gas is where it is now. but we were young and having fun, going to Wasaga beach for an hour to catch a friend on her lunch break and getting back just in time to start the chores, and then get ready for round 2 after that was done. the funny thing was Gram ma wasn't mad about the Km's she was only mad that we used the trunk to transport straw to one of the farms. We had a lot of tours and a lot of good tunes coming out of that radio.
i was listening to a lot of Country yesterday and it really got to me, I also popped by a buddies B.D. to see how he was doing? we got into a good Social we lost track of time i was close to be late for work. but i had enough time to get a shower and make my lunch. We were on the topics of What If?, and If i then What
I knew now? We got going about had I stayed with her, I wish i said something to that girl. I remembered Madame and my wedding song while we talking "Bless the broken road" by rascal flatts. I said to him we needed to go through those opsticals to get to where we are now. If you've seen the bottom then you know it can get up from there, I myself have seen the positive changes in myself from where I was 5 years ago. It's funny that some of the songs i heard yesterday made me realize that it was a good thing i took those hard lessons because now I'm in a better place then I've ever been before and I actually want to thank those people who were with me on that journey because it brought me to now.

Where has the time gone
Time fly's when you're having fun I guess, I finally found some time to post a messege, we've been quite busy this month with 4 birthday parties, we've also been go go for a few weeks now.
Wee-Man had his 1st Birthday last week (May 16th) and Madame had her's (May 18th) I better not mention how old she's turned she might send me to the shed to sleep there for the Summer. I'm not sure where this year has gone. it feels like yesterday we were calling up all the family and Friends saying he's finally here. We had a big party for him, 30 or more Family and Friends showed up to celebrate with us. we had a BBQ in the backyard enjoying the sunshine and warm weather we've been waiting for all winter long. I got to use my new BBQ that I've been waiting all winter to break out. That's not true I broke it out a month or so a go. I've used this BBQ more in the last month then i used my old one in the last 3 years.
There i go again drifting away from myself. I've also returned to work last week. it's been nice being off that's for sure but it's great to be getting a paycheck again, you don't realize how tough it is to keep yourself balanced when your not getting the wage your used to getting. I guess the key is to have the mind set that you're only getting half of the wage that you are getting then you'll find it a touch easier to balance yourself. I do say this though if you are planning a Pat/Mat leave start putting money away now that way it's not as much of a blow when people are knocking on your door for those bills you still have to pay while your off.
Back to Wee Man poor kid is a Spitting image of me, I don't like to admit but i guess I'm kind of Cheeky. I really see a lot of me in him he has that look when he knows he's going to do something he shouldn't looks back at you and there's the smirk. We've started to notice a lot in the past little while he's not a baby anymore he's becoming a little boy, and with that i can already see we're going to have our hands full once he lets go of the furniture and walking on his own.

Cell
I got a letter in the mail yesterday from my cell phone provider about how loyal I've been and here's an offer for a Fancy Upgrade. So I made that call, i said right off the hop, i want a simple phone where I can call and maybe send a few texts, I don't want to search the internet on my phone that's what i do here in the comforts of my own home. The only way i would get a fancy phone is If i had my own business, Which i don't, if my work provided it. or like some people I know are always on the road and it's the best way for him not to feel sheltered. Do you know what p[hone i do miss though, the old school plug in ones that you plug into your lighter in the car, or the huge ones that are 3 times the size of a block of cheese, those were awesome. I went with the basic model, I went to pick one up today and she didn't have any in stock. her only 1 she had sold yesterday, which made me feel good in a strange way because I'm not the only one that is buying into the fancy phones.
I'm getting better at questioning people when they get these fancy phones. it's usually me asking What would you need that for? but it's a losing battle for me because it's happening all around me, there popping up everywhere so there's no sense in fighting it and just except that this is going to happen. I'm already planning the day my son asked me if he can get a cell. I have already let him know that both his mother and i didn't get cells until we were in our twenties so you'll have to wait til you get a job, or your license where you will only use it for emergency purposes.we will also have an extra one around for when they go out with friends and he needs a ride home or just a call saying hey I'm staying at Charlie's tonight.
The price is what gets me some of the people tell me what there paying for a month, that's 1 of the reason's I'm down grading so i can put my money other places like grocery's. I also understand that there cell maybe there only phone.
I don't think it's right for everyone to have a cell phone, It can get used in some bad a sometimes stupid ways. my Children will have to prove to us that they are responsible enough to make good decisions while using the phone, or anything really.

Time flies when your having fun
I"m not sure where the time as gone, I got a call from my employer this week, saying hey were putting you back on the pay roll, see you in 2 weeks. I'm not sure where that 8 weeks went. It has been a lot of fun being off watching my little man getting into things he knows he shouldn't be into, touring around furniture. he discovered the good times you can have in a bathroom the other day. kids must know something we don't because I'm not one to have any fun in a bathroom, but hey what do I know. because of mister wee-mans adventures in the bathroom i have learned the toilet seat goes down so he doesn't try to go swimming in the water.
I have become a big fan of the mid-morning nap though it's pretty sweet, I probably should sleep at the same time he does but then I wouldn't be able to this.
A Co-worker texted me today to see how things were going? 1 question she asked is when's the next little one coming? my response to that was my wife already has me and a mini me, i'm not sure she would be able to handle 3 of us.

Where were you?
I had 1 of my neighbors call me up late last week with the news of the birth of his 3rd child, all girls by the way. we have a boy so I'm not sure what it would be like to live in a house full of ladies. he's a brave man that's for sure. Where was i going with this? oh right, I silly or crazy I don't know, sometimes I'll forget when my nieces or nephews or friends kids birthday's are. I never forget where i was When i got the call When they were born, or they were expecting.
Last Week Madame i were in a Drive-Thru Bank Machine in North Whitby (Brooklyn). I was driving so i had Madame answer the cell. I had a feeling What it was i knew she was due to deliver at anytime. So She said oh would you like to talk to him. I was trying to do 3 things at once, I had 4 cars behind me the machine was beeping at me to take the money. the people behind me were honking there horns. (like they wanted me to get going or something) in the back of my head i was thinking hey this is a big deal for him to call me and share his great news. so i decided to take the call to make my congrats. There was a few angry people? yes but when you look at the big picture is it more important to take the call and enjoy the miracle of a person joining us on this earth, or to keep the line going for the bank machine. if you know the answer please let me know?
The other Phone call I can remember is when my oldest niece was born, it was a warm Sunday in June we were out on the patio of the local pub where I used to spend a lot of time but those are other things to write about later. I remember getting the call mid-afternoon, for the rest of the day i was so excited everyone around us had purchased a round or 2 to celebrate her birth.
It is a funny thing to remember the exact place you were when you get those kinds of calls.

Small World
When I was planning to go to college I was set and determined to go as far away from this Rural area, I ended up going 3 hours north of here in North Bay, The first year was a trial run. I went had too much fun and they said sorry better luck next time. I went back to that same program the following year. I think that was the powers be telling me i needed to become friends with these bunch of people.
Over the years I have learned that it truly is a small world. My wife gets shocked when we don't run into anyone i kn ow.
When i went into my second attempt at Broadcasting. I got know a guy named Zed. He's one of those guys that you don't have to see on a regular bases but when you do, we can pick up where we left off without skipping a beat. It would be awesome to see him everyday but there's sort of a big distance between Ontario and British Columbia.
I had gone home after the first semester and was talking to my dad about Zed and where he lived and that i would be going to see him over the summer break. and he replied yes I graduated with his dad in 1967. So if you're reading this Zed we must start planning now where are little one's are going to get up to mischief when they get to school.

Wonder
I always wonder what it would be like to be able to have full use of my arm and legs. Then I.look how boring that would be, I wouldn't trade anything that happened to me when i was younger, I had a conversation with my Massage therapist (no happy ending) yesterday how it's almost a blessing that i had my stroke when i did. I wouldn't want to have a stroke at this age because your brain is wired a certain way and to retrain yourself at an older age would be a lot harder then having one at birth or soon after.. How do i put this? because my brain was just starting to develop it was easier for me to train my brain.
When i do get thinking about If I had use of both sides I don't think i would stand out like I do, i would just be placed in a category with everyone else.

Radio Reunion
I just noticed that there hasn't been a post from me in a little bit, so While Wee-Man is having his morning nap I'll take advantage of writing something.
I just got my holiday sheet to figure out where I want to take my days in the coming year. One Weekend came to mind in July, All my Classmates and i are heading to North Bay to celebrate our 10 years of being out of our Radio Broadcasting. it is already starting to sound like it's going to be a great time. I can't believe it's been 10 years though the time has flown by. There was some great times and i already know it's going to feel like we haven't seen each other in that long.
There were a lot of great times either on air or socials in between classes so much fun. unfortunately for me I didn't fall in the broadcasting field but no regrets right?
I always started my air Shift with WKRP in Cincinnati, I was always forgetting that we were a rock station and there was supposed to be music instead i would get on rants until someone would call and say to me hey Randy shouldn't you be playing music.
I'm looking forward to getting back to the old spots we used to have a few socials at and seeing the old crew again.

Hurry Hard
Is it sad that Curling season is finished up and I'm already rolling in my head about what Bonspiels I'm going to go into in the late Fall/Winter?
My eldest brother suggested to it me about a day league, I'm seriously considering trying to put it together. How hard could it be. This December will be the 8th year I've been hosting my on Spiel, Which i call The "Whiskey Pumps Funspiel" The winner of year gets there name on a TeXes Mickey. It's named after 1 of the teams that enters I gave them a task before the 1st year it was run. I bought them a bottle and said I would need it in a few weeks. They finished the bottle in good time, it was polished off in 3 days. For doing that Whiskey Pumps was born. They even have there name on the bottle for winning it a few years ago now. it took a few years of trial and error, like trying 2 days, that didn't work because I trusted on the social network as yes I'll have a team. but we have finally weened out the teams that will back out last minute, because there hung over or they don't feel like curling. What started off as a way to get a lot of socials into us has turned out to be some damn good curling. I have a great bunch of guys that i can give a weeks notice and they will be there to have a great time. As you can see it has become a well oiled machine and can now run on it's own, with a little help from my support team, also it's only April and I'm already looking forward to another great pumps in December. I guess I'll have to hit the golf course until that time comes.

Plotting to take over the world
Madame, Wee-Man and I were out last night at a friends for dinner and social, they have a son only a few months older then Wee-Man. It was fun too watch them burble back and forth at each other, I'm petty sure they will be a handful when they get together as they grow-up, You can already see that in the way the 2 of them were playing and both having faces like they've done something wrong.
I'm convinced that babies have there own language, sort of like Look whose Talking. 1 of my nieces just loves Wee-Man a few months ago we were up at my sister's place, The 2 of them were lying on the floor burbling away at each other. My niece was whispering in his ear in what sounded like gibberish to us. They were giggling and laughing away having a great time. You wonder what there really saying. I'm thinking it's on the lines of how nuts there parents are or Who knows what they could be plotting. I like to see that the kids have there own type of communication. I guess you could call it morascode or like a club that Parents and adults aren't aloud to know what there talking about.

I'll have 1 of those
There used to be a joke my siblings would use to get me upset. "What does Elmer Fudd say When he sees Randy Walking down the Street? There goes Wandy the Wubberhead wunning awong"
Not knowing it then, that was there way to toughen me up. I learned early I was different from everybody else. but instead of using it a negative. i used my situation as a positive. If i knew people were standoffish I'm always cracking jokes that hopefully eases peoples mind then there ok with asking questions. You can ask people that are in my life that it's not even anything they think about anymore. Yes I have minimal use to the left side of my body, but I've never considered myself to having a handicap. There are some cases where I have more use in my 1 arm then you do with 2. I have a job, I've worked on the farm, throwing bails, cleaning pens. I've been a custodian for 9 years. I've also worked in Radio, I've never been one to let my capability's let me down.
I'm always trying to get people to laugh or think What just happened. When i was living in North Bay, I would go to the local Fast Food restaurants and put in an order with my left Hand. I would ask for 1 of those pointing in all directions. (with all my fingers) I would usually try to have someone i know behind me in line, most times they wouldn't know it was coming and would not be impressed. I would always wait for the cashier to ask the person behind if they knew which combo I was looking for. Then my favourite the look on the person's face that I had come to the restaurant with. a lot of the times I would be walking home but I would always enjoy the Free Apple Pie that was given to me. I wonder why no one will go to fast Food restaurants with me anymore?

I have had 5 major brain surgery's all before the age of 18. one of my first operations when I was less then a year caused me to have a stroke and have minimal use to the left side of my body.
I hope you enjoy some of the stories and that will help you to get to know me a little more.

The Party Trick
I was Curling over the weekend, It makes the winter just fly by, of course after the games over you sit and social with the teams you played against. i was telling some of the adventure's that have happened to me over the years. (keep in mind I'm going to start using Initials because it was confusing for some of my followers)
One thing B.C. and I like to do when we are out a party where not a lot of people know me. I call it the party Trick i have minimal use to my left side we'll get chatting to people and I'll start trying to drink my social with my left hand. most people are caught off guard and why I'm even attempting to do this is a question that is 98% always asked. #1) I love to see the look on peoples face. 2)It is a great method of Physio. F.Y.I I have successfully drank with my left at least 3 times.
It is B.C.'s goal in life for me to flash him the finger with the left. I am so close to being successful because of help of Botox. Anyway kids i hope you enjoyed this story as I did wring it. until next time.

Ohh so your that guy!
I've been with Madame now just over 3 years. we've been married for a 1yr and a half. Three years prior from meeting madame. a bunch of the boys and i decided to go to one of the Junior Farmer Dances people were always talking about. After a few socials and having to pull my friend Forest off the D.J. for not playing any Country Music. I had a noticed a girl waiting for 1 of her friends, so I approached her and got chatting asked to have her Number. We had set up a date to go out. On the day of the date I had received a phone call from some friends who were going to help me do some work to my living space. And that was the only day they were able to do the job, So i had told the girl I had to drywall my basement. We never got around to do that date.
Come forward 3 years, i had just got out of an engagement, I was taking as I called "The year of Randy" I had got through the year I received a phone call from my mom, "Can you pick up in the morning? I'm dropping the car off to get looked at. and oh yeah I have this girl I want you to meet it's 1 of my co-workers"
When Madame and i started dating she would come up to the School for a coffee, before she would head south. One of the times she came up she mentioned that her sister wasn't impressed that we were dating. and my response was oh yeah why would this be? Madame's response was well Your the Drywall Guy.
To this day it's an ongoing joke with her Family.. But we realized now that it wouldn't have worked between us. she was the Maid of Honour at our wedding and 1 of Wee-Man's Crazy Aunt's. Madame has even said it became a running joke when ever they didn't want to do anything.

Fur Baby to that Damn Dog
Madame and I work opposite shifts. we do spend 8 hours a day together but most of that is sleeping. A decision was made that we should get a pet. Along came Chester, a blond Cocker Spaniel, he came groomed a little over weight because he was found in downtown Scarborough. He was going to be our companion when the other one was at work. He's been a great dog for us, we take him most places that will allow him to come along. up until 10 months ago he was Chez, or our Fur Baby. And then Came Wee-Man, and all of a sudden he's now that Damn Dog. We don't love him any less and he's still a good boy especially around kids (except 10yr olds) Our priorities had been shifted to taking care of Chez, to really having to care of the boy. Chez gets a tad jealous every now and again but mostly he's good. he'll shred a few things if he's mad at us. but that's our fault for leaving it on the ground.
I've been noticing while I've been off, how Wee-Man is so intrigued by Chez, today I watched Wee-Man follow Chez all around the living room. Chester would be in his Chair, Wee-Man would climb the furniture so that he could say hi. so Chez would jump to another piece of furniture in the house and he would proceed to motor over to say hi. i sat and watched the 2 of them playing this game for just shy of an hour. I'm thinking it's not going to be long til that the dog will no longer be mine but wee-Man's instead

There was this 1 time.
You know there's trouble when the sentence starts off with There was this 1 time we were drinking beer. LB and i were trying to think of a time where are adventures had ever started without that sentence. well my friends I have finally thought of one. There was 1 time we set a car on fire, not on purpose of course, He had a car, and I had a field. there was a teacher's strike so we weren't in school, so some of the boys and i decided hey lets take the car and have a field car. so we loaded it up got it out to the farm. got driving and got it stuck in a pile of manure. The tractor got us pulled out. and on our way we go once more. It was LB's turn to drive and i was the co-pilot. out of no where 1 of the other lads comes running up to the car and taps on the window. you better get out the cars on fire, we had firetrucks, a small little bonfire. and of course picture evidence. I'm still a little bitter about the whole thing I was next to be the driver and my G&R Use your Allusions 2 cassette melted in the process.

Sharing my stories...
So I've been planning to write down my stories for some time now. I'm off on Paternity leave so I thought if I'm going to do it then this is the time.
I've been trying to think up things that have happened to me. Please Keep in mind I won't be using real names.
Madame and Wee-Man and I went to a St. Patty's day party in the city. Everyone was having a good social in the Dining room, It was my turn to Change wee-man, I went to the living room so that I was out of the way of everyone. Wee-Man has discovered that he can crawl in the last week. So while I was attempting to change him he got away from me, the next thing i remember is I'm holding Wee-man in my arms and we had shattered glass everywhere. I had got a hold of him and leaned back too far and caught the middle Shelf of the entertainment unit. by the time I had returned to the dining room It had become an epic story with severed limbs and broken glass.
I am proud to say that no people or any electronics were harmed.
